Ballet Black
Orpheus
The award-winning Ballet Black has become a regular fixture at the Royal Opera House and every year its visit is keenly awaited, with five sell-out seasons to its credit – the perfect credentials for a presentation of world class dance in Watford.
Now celebrating its tenth year, this company of black and asian ballet dancers has gathered huge success and a substantial following. Presenting entirely new work from a range of dynamic choreographers, the company has worked with everyone from Richard Alston to Shobana Jeyasingh and many more.
For its debut at the Palace, it presents a mixed bill of highlights from the past decade, including the critically acclaimed Da Gamba by the Welsh-Nigerian choreographer Henri Oguike; Shift, Trip... Catch by former New York City Ballet dancer Antonia Franceschi; and Orpheus created by The Royal Ballet’s Will Tuckett.
Stimulating, inspirational and international, Ballet Black’s repertoire is a strong mix of the known and the new, and showcases some of the most exciting of today’s dancers.
